Amazon.com Review
This is the ultimate must-have for the Star Wars fanatic. Spendy, but definitely worth it, the Star Wars Chronicles is a big, beautiful book that comes in a gold and black box--it will look great on your coffee table next to your Star Wars Logbook. The Chronicles cover the beloved trilogy of movies in thousands of behind-the-scenes and up-close photographs, many you've never seen before. From the creation of all the aliens to the details of Boba Fett's jet pack, you'll find fascinating facts, drawings, paintings, and photos to pore over endlessly. Each detail is lovingly presented for the appreciation of serious fans, and the whole package will be a delight to collectors.

Product Description
The most spectacular tribute to the Star Wars phenomenon yet, this deluxe limited edition features the most comprehensive collection of photographs, production stills, sketches, and outtakes ever assembled. Nearly the entire Lucasfilm archives, with hundreds of never-before-seen images and dozens of creatures, and sections on Star Wars TV specials that have never been published in book form, are brought together in this luxurious, slipcased volume. With its enticing size and elegant design, Star Wars Chronicles is the ultimate collection for serious Star Wars fans.

5 out of 5 stars Comprehensive book detailing everything about everthing   December 23, 2008
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1S3ARBW2RSFUL This book is very similar to Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequel which I reviewed before. That book is for Episodes I, II and III. This book is for Episodes IV, V and VI.

At 320 pages, this is an enormous book. It's encased in a slipcase cardboard with cutouts to reveal the cover behind. It's very well bind, and the paper stock is great. The first print was back in 1997 and the second in 2006. It might be hard to find this book but I'm sure it will be back for more reprints.

This book is no doubt the most complete and exclusive collection compiled for Star Wars. These materials include -- huge breath in -- hundreds of behind the scenes photos, film stills, models of ships, character designs, miniatures, character models, robots, creatures, props, costumes -- another long breath in -- vehicles, planets, plot lines and anything you can think of. The captions are detailed and explain the concept behind every picture provided.

The photos included show a lot of detail on the subject. Multiple shots are often taken from each side, especially so for vehicles. Every photo is captioned and explained. There is very little concept art, but for that you have to get the art-of series of books.

In addition to the core Episodes, there is also archive information on The Star Wars Holiday Special, The Ewok Adventure and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor.

It's the most comprehensive book detailing everything about everything in a movie.

The price might be hefty, but it is well worth it for any Star Wars fan.

There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.

5 out of 5 stars simply perfect   September 16, 2008
Bought this as a treat for me as had previously seen it advertised in the UK about 3/4 years ago but didnt have the money for it at the time. Im just so glad that I now own this book. Couldnt believe just how good a book this is - the pictures are stunning and the text is very informative. If you love star wars and want to get behind the scenes - then this is one of the 2 books that will allow you to see so much more of the series. This book prompted me to seek the 2nd book in the range(star wars chronicles:the prequels) which covers the first(last) 3 films - so between these 2 books the entire star wars universe is covered. Im now looking forward to the new encyclopedia from the same author as the prequels book due out later this year to complete my ultimate star wars book collection.

5 out of 5 stars A great reference guide!   May 12, 2008
While it's size may seem like overkill, this book packs a punch! Once you open it you'll see that it is definitely worth the money you'll pay for it. And the cool cut-out slip case that it comes in gives it a unique presentation! The photographs are great and they give you a fly on the wall look at the sets, costumes, props, and artwork of the first Star Wars Trilogy. Many of these pictures have never been published, so that alone is a very neat feature! While this book does not have a lot of information inside it, it's pictures are worth the money alone. The fact that it is printed on a high quality paper and is very large gives all those details an extra punch. This is a wonderful reference guide for Star Wars fans who are interested in prop replicating, model building, costume design and fabrication, and more. Even the fabrication departments of Lucasfilm used this book as a reference for their work on the Prequel trilogy. If you don't believe me, watch your Episode III bonus disc and watch the scenes of them replicating the Darth Vader suit, and you'll see it right there on the table being used by one of the designers. I recommend this to any Star Wars Fan!

2 out of 5 stars Anti-Climactic purchase   February 11, 2008
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

I've always been a mega-collector of everything Star Wars, especially any books on the behind-the-scenes stuff. Well, to cut to the chase, it might be best to not bother. Yes, this book is big, heavy, and pricey. Yes, this book will arrive beaten up. Yes, the binding will be apt to crack. And in the end, all you're going to get are slightly different angles of pics you've seen before. The information is pretty sparse; it's mostly a picture book. Needless to say, with Google image search, it doesn't make much sense to fork out the dough to have a clunky book of images available for viewing for free!

If you're a Star Wars fanatic, I wouldn't bother; you already know all of this.
