Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
"Like Maxim, but about Xbox!" was clearly the mandate given to Mike Salmon, former editor-in-chief of PC Accelerator and current editor-in-chief of The Official Xbox Magazine. He got it half right: this gamer lifestyle magazine has the locker-room feel of Maxim but lacks Maxim's intelligent, tongue-in-cheek style. The result is something that looks like it was written by high-school sophomores. For example, a bio of Kasumi, a character in the game Dead or Alive 3, reads "A redhead with a difference--she can take on all comers. And if DoA 3 has the "[breast] bounce on/off" option, she'll definitely have a lot of comers." On the plus side, the game reviews and previews are informative and mostly free of bull. --Mike Fehlauer

4 out of 5 stars Don't really need the disk unless you don't have Live   December 30, 2008
This magazine is great, very informative and easy to read. You can bet that if they give a game a good score it's a good game. On the issue of disk, you don't really need it if you have Xbox live because the disk really just contains demo's that Xbox live offers you sooner. I find myself not playing the disc because I have already downloaded the demo 3 weeks ago. They sometimes put on special items like gamer pics and free game content but if you don't have the game it isn't anything special and could be downloaded cheaper than paying for the disks.

3 out of 5 stars For those without Harddrive or xbox live.   December 30, 2008
the magazine is alright, lots of ads though almost every page. Some articles are interesting but too much opinions from the staff. Some of the articles try to be funny though.

Well there are a lot of xbox 360 resources online for reviews and trailers like ign and [...]

i just bought this for the Disc and believe me, most of disc's demos are already on xbox live.

I am actually pretty disappointed though on the content of the disc, I didn't get it to watch kid rock special 1 clip mtv video.

I would get this if I dont have internet conntection or a hard drive (if you only have the arcade version xbox 360).

the disc spins really hard and loud in the system. If you play too long the system gets hot. makes me glad that i got a hard drive and internet. i just go online and download the games. no system noise.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent magazine with great disc features.   December 18, 2008
As a magazine strictly devoted to the xbox and xbox games, this does a great job. I see a lot of low ratings about not getting the disc with the subscription. I don't know what those people purchased. If you are looking at this product (with DVD in the title), you will get the disc. For $25, this is a great buy.

4 out of 5 stars Review   August 10, 2008
This product is pretty good except for you most likely will never receive your 12th issue. Other than that you get disks of demos every month and pretty good articles.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding video game reviews and previews are always up to date   July 31, 2008
The Official Xbox Magazine (OXM) has been one of the most consistent and fun gaming magazine to read since the inception of the first Xbox. I have been a subscriber since that day and i can say from my own experience that this magazine is unlike all others. When u read all the articles they do so in a un-biased manner so you know that their honest opinion about games is very accurate to what most people feel. This magazine makes their subscribers feel like a part of their family and once you get adjusted to this style of magazine you wont be unsatisfied. The only draw back is that if you dont own a xbox 360 or not into gaming then you wont find much interesting here obviously. but if you do have an 360 then the OXM is a must have accesory to your collection because there is none better than this.
